What is a Component (Child) Asset?

Modified on Wed, 6 Nov at 12:07 PM

  • A Component Asset is an Asset which can be assigned to another Asset, a Parent Asset.
  • A Component can only be assigned to one Parent.
  • If Component is in a different zone from the Parent Asset, then it will automatically be moved to the Parent zone.
  • Parent zone needs to accept Component Asset type.
  • A Component can be un-assigned from the Parent Asset.
  • Administrator and Technician users need to have Manage Asset Component permission so that they can assign or detach components.
  • Components can be inspected and have their own inspection and asset history.
  • Components are transferred along with the Parent.
  • Components cannot be transferred by themselves.
  • Components can have a different Asset Type from the Parent Asset.
  • A Component Asset can be decommissioned.
  • Components can be viewed on all Asset dashboards; they have a component icon next to them.
